Landing in Your Body: A Somatic Exploration

Deepen your connection with your body’s wisdom and learn ways to support your nervous system on a daily basis

Saturday, May 10th from 1-3pm at Ananda Yoga in Belfast, Maine | Limited to 10 people | $30

As a Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner, I will gently invite you to explore your physical sensations—the language of the nervous system. I will guide you through small movements and embodiment practices, inviting you to notice and track what sensations emerge and what wants to happen next. Through this process of observation and bringing curiosity towards ourselves, we can increase our self-awareness and expand our ways of processing stress beyond just our thinking brain.

In this workshop, you will:
– Learn vocabulary for sensations (like heavy, smooth, tense and spacious) and explore what sensations are happening in your body in the present moment.
– Experience subtle waves of nervous system arousal and settling by bringing in gentle movement and then slowing down, allowing the wave to complete.
– Deepen your ability to listen to your system’s needs and gain practices to support your nervous system on a daily basis and in times of stress or overwhelm.
– Share reflections and insights with each other.

Somatic Experiencing® is a body-oriented approach to healing trauma and chronic stress. Though trauma-informed, this workshop is not about resolving trauma or chronic stress. It is about learning the amazing language of sensation and connecting with this language in your nervous system. Connecting with one’s body can be inaccessible or frightening for many people with significant trauma in their system.
